I'm Dean, a therapist specialising in Imposter Syndrome.

Dean Watkins - Imposter Syndrome Therapist

On the outside, it looks like you're coping.

But inside, you feel like you’re constantly battling with anxiety, self-doubt, and a harsh inner critic.

You might be overthinking everything, second-guessing yourself, or feeling like you're one misstep away from being found out. Even when others see you as capable and accomplished, you can’t shake the feeling that you’re not good enough — or that you're just “getting away with it.”

If this sounds familiar, you're not alone — and you're not the problem.

How therapy can help

In our work together, we’ll develop a clear understanding of your difficulties. We’ll explore the patterns of thinking and behaviour that are keeping you stuck — and look at how these make sense, even if they’re no longer helping. You may have tried to change before, but found the same struggles reappearing in new forms. Therapy can offer a new way forward.

We'll work on developing skills to respond more effectively to difficult thoughts and feelings, so you can move away from self-doubt and worry — and toward living more consistently with your goals and values.

What it’s like to work with me

Clients often tell me that they can finally understand their problems — and that they feel truly seen, sometimes for the first time. My approach is warm, collaborative, and thoughtful. It’s not about fixing you, but about helping you understand how you’ve become stuck, with more clarity and compassion.

I draw on evidence-based approaches including CBT, ACT, CFT, and EMDR. These give us practical tools to work with, alongside a therapeutic space that’s steady, respectful, and tailored to your pace.

Next steps

Taking the first step can feel daunting, especially if you're used to pushing through on your own. If anything here resonates with you, you're welcome to get in touch. We can arrange a brief initial conversation to see if it feels like a good fit.

What Other Clients Have to say...

"Throughout my career I've struggled with imposter syndrome and anxiety at work. Dean helped me to understand this, recognise it when it arises and work with it. This has really improved how I feel and cope with things both within and outside of work."

KE - Cybersecurity Researcher

"Extremely useful in helping me understand my problems, recognising that all the thoughts and feelings that have troubled me are perfectly normal and natural and providing me with the tools to manage them so that I can move forward in my life."

TC - Musician

"Dean was kind, empathetic and understanding. We worked on the problems I wanted to focus on and he helped me to better understand them and he gave me useful practical exercises. I honestly feel the whole process has been a great help and I have a far better understanding of my problems and I'm much better equipped to deal with them."

AM - Manager

"I worked with Dean over the last few months and having had a largely poor experience of therapy in the past, he created an environment that was safe, supportive and made understanding easy. I am really lucky to have been able to work with him and really incredibly thankful."

ML - GP
